Maybelline Limited Edition Fall 2012 - Review, Swatches + EOTD

I know. I know. Worst blogger ever? Quite possibly...
Forgive me? *bats eyelashes*

I've kinda fallen off the grid. Honestly. Since I started working for MAC, I haven't been keeping up with blogging (or reading my favorite blogs!), new collections and products from other companies. I feel so out of the loop.

When I came across a new Maybelline display at my local CVS, it hit me. I was pleasantly surprised to see new products, I had not known about. At the same time, I felt out of touch with the beauty community. I had no idea they were coming out with new Limited Edition Color Tattoo Shades... oh, the horror of not knowing! The end cap was full of new limited edition products from Maybelline. Of course I grabbed a few. No one said I had stop being a beauty junkie...

Maybelline ColorSenstational #815 Tenacious Taupe

Maybelline ColorSensational Tenacious Taupe is a pinky-brown taupe shade. A slightly darker nude, great for fall. On my lips it is a little browner than I was hoping, but still a lovely shade. It looks lovely with a baby pink gloss over top, like MAC Boy Bait. It has the same creamy, moisturizing texture and pigmentation as the permanent ColorSensational lipsticks. Which is similar to the MAC Amplified and Cremesheen formulas. Great drugstore lipstick. There are even a few dupes for MAC shades in the permanent line.

Maybelline FIT me! Deep Mauve

This is the first product I've tried from the Maybelline FIT me! line. Maybelline FIT me! Deep Mauve is a gorgeous pinky-mauve powder blush with a very subtle shimmer. This blush isn't overly pigmented. One swipe gives a nice natural flush. But you can also build up the pigmentation by apply more to achieve desired look. This shade of this blush will transition nicely into the colder winter months, similar to MAC Blushbaby. It will look best on fair to tan skin tones. Those with darker complexions may want to use this to highlight the cheekbones, and pair it with a deep beery blush.

Maybelline ColorShow #715 Boho Gold

L to R (3 coats each): Boho Gold, over white base, over black base

Another first for my collection, Maybelline ColorShow Boho Gold nailpolish, is a multidimensional, metallic green/gold duo-chrome. I've read online it may be a dupe for Chanel Peridot, but I do not own to compare. This polish has a nice consistency, that isn't too thin or overly thin; a happy medium. Two coats will give you a nice even, opaque coverage. But I think it looks best over a black base, as shown above. And if it is a dupe for Chanel Peridot, your wallet will be cheering!

Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoo #200 Mossy Green

Maybelline Mossy Green lid blended into crease, MAC Soft Brown below brow bone

I have mixed feelings about Maybelline Color Tattoos, I don't love them but I don't hate them either. I generally do not wear them as shadows. I like to use them as bases for my shadows. However, this shade might be a game changer for me. Maybelline Color Tattoo Mossy Green is a gorgeous moss/olive green with gold shimmer. I absolutely love this shade! It makes my eyes look greener. And would probably look amazing paired with any eye color. Today I did a quick eye look using Mossy Green all over the lid and blended into the crease. I applied MAC Soft Brown just below my brow bone and blended Mossy Green out. With a pencil brush I smudged Mossy green along my loser lash line, applied black liner and one coat of Buxom Lash mascara. Quick, soft smokey eye.

Last but not least, arm swatches...

We'll talk soon, pinky promise
